Reading Schedule for Lent
The theme of Psalm 119 is the Word of God. It is referred to by many titles: Law (Hebrew Torah), Laws (Hebrew Mishpat), Statutes, Ways, Precepts, Decrees, Word, Promises, Commands. The author declares over-and-over again his love for the Word of God throughout all of Psalm 119.
There are 22 sections in the Psalm corresponding to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Each section contains eight verses. Most of the readings in this schedule allow you to dwell upon one section of the Psalm for two days, so—generally—you will proceed with a new reading every-other day.
The purpose of this Lent reading is to provide a journey through Psalm 119 that awakens a new and fresh love for the Word of God in each one of us!
